Since joining the SHSU faculty in 1992, Tracy Steele has expanded the range
of courses offered on Asian history. Courses available now include "Rebellion
and Revolution in Modern China," "Japan's Emergence as a Modern Nation,"
"Early Asian History," and "Modern Asian History." Her research interests
include Anglo-American relations in regard to China during the Cold War
years, covering topics such as Chinese representation in the United Nations,
the trade embargo of the People's Republic of China, the offshore islands
of Matsu and Quemoy, Hong Kong's security, and Indo-Pakistan Wars.
