EXPERIENCE MEXICO: SHSU PUEBLA FIELD SCHOOL: 2008

Registration Requirements

1. You must be admitted to Sam Houston State University and be a student in good standing. If you are not an SHSU student, you will need to apply for admission at: http://www.shsu.edu/~adm_www/

2. Tuition is a separate payment and will depend on you residency status and the number of courses that you enroll in. Typical tuition and fees for Texas residents is about $708 for 3 hrs. and $1,170 for 6 hrs.

3. You must also register for the courses that you wish to take in Puebla. Enrollment procedures for the specific courses of the Puebla Field School will be the same as those for on-campus summer courses. Procedure for tuition payment for these courses will be the same as for on-campus summer courses. The courses will be listed in the Summer Schedule of Classes at
http://www.shsu.edu/schedule/

4. Courses will start a few days before we leave for Mexico.

5. Expenses you should consider that are not included in the package: tuition, meals not included in your plan ($5-8 each meal), weekend trips, personal expenses, gifts.

6. You will need two "passport type" photographs. This is NOT for a passport; it is for your official i. d. for the Universidad Iberoamericana. Please turn them in to Dr. Koeninger as soon as possible. You can get them at Walgreens or Walmart in about 3 minutes; they cost about eight dollars.

7. DOCUMENTS:
Starting Jan. 1, 2007 a PASSPORT will be a required by the U. S. Government in order to travel abroad.
PASSPORT APPLICATION:
If you do not have a current passport, this is the website where you will find the application and all pertinent information: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/get_840.html
The instructions will guide you to fill out an application and take it, a photo i.d., two passport-size photos, and proof of U.S. citizenship to a passport agency or acceptance facility. DO NOTsign your application until you are in front of a passport agent.
PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP:
a certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state (not a hospital record of birth).
PASSPORT AGENCY/ ACCEPTANCE FACILITY:
In Huntsville, take your documents to City Hall, 1212 Avenue M, but call ahead of time to make an appointment: 936-295-6471. In Houston, and many other cities, you can go to the post office.
