Mrs. Williamson has been visiting and traveling in Mexico since 1964.
She has not visited Baja California, Colima, or Quintana Roo, but has touched on all the other Mexican states. She has visited many of the major archaelogical sites and many historical sites. She has made repeat visits to the Mexican states of Yucatan and Oaxaca.
In recent times she has traveled to the Mexican state of Michoacán, the site of the volcano Paricutín and two of the parks where monarch butterflies spend the winter. In 2007, she visited San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico, a center for artists and writers.
She has read and studied two important Mexican writers, Rosario Castellaños and Elena Poniatatowska. She has a great interest in one of the early bishops of Mexico, Vasco de Quiroga.
She studied for two summers at the Cuernavaca Language School in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico.
She has made two trips to Spain, in 1974 and again in 2003. The cities and towns she has visited and has studied about include Barcelona, Montserrat,Valencia, Madrid, Toledo, Burgos, Santiago de Campostela, Sevilla, Córdoba, and Granada.
She collects books dealing with the great pilgrimage of the Middle Ages to Santiago de Campostela. She also collects book about the Jews of Spain.
