The doctoral program in Educational Leadership at SHSU helped me in a variety of ways. One of the real benefits was the relationships built with students and faculty members. Not only were there opportunities to develop my leadership skills, but I was able to develop professional and personal relationships that have helped to advance both my career and my personal life. I appreciate the faculty guidance and encouragement beyond graduation. The program prepared me for future challenges through rigorous course work and thorough discussions of ideas and concepts. I believe that the investment of time and energy to attend SHSU was well spent and definitely of great value.
I am currently the principal of New Waverly Intermediate School . Our campus is a TEA recognized campus that was recently awarded Gold Performance Commended acknowledgements in Reading/ELA, Mathematics, Writing, and Science. I was a first year assistant principal when I entered the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership. Since I graduated from the Educational Leadership and Counseling Department, I have been principal of two different highly recognized campuses. I currently teach adjunct classes for the SHSU Master's program in administration.
