It was through my principal that I first heard about the doctoral program at Sam Houston State University . I had finished my masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Prairie View A&M University and I wanted to pursue my doctorate; however, Sam's doctorate was in Educational Leadership. At the time, I had moved to another district and I was advised and encouraged to take some leadership classes before beginning the doctoral program in Educational Leadership. That Summer I pursued those classes and was encouraged to seek leadership roles in my new district. It was this encouragement that led me to my current position as Assistant Principal in one year of teaching in that district and being accepted into the doctoral cohort X. The doctoral program has provided me with more experiences that have opened my view of leadership in education and I am only half way through. I can't wait to see how far this program will push me. The Sky Is The Limit!
