TExES/Representative Forms (Practice Tests)

What is the Representative Form and Why?

Educator Preparation Services-TExES/Representative Forms (Practice Tests) assist SHSU teacher candidates and educators with preparation for state certification examinations.

• Representative Forms (Practice Tests) are administered by SHSU to supplement student's preparation for the state certification "TExES" exams.

TEACHER CANDIDATES:  When completing preparatory coursework, consult this schedule, take appropriate representative form (practice test) and TExES Representative Form (Practice tests) are required for all PPR, all EC-6 & 4-8 content, and many 8-12/EC-12 content.  Consult with your major department.

Representative Forms (Practice Tests) allow test candidates to obtain a practical experience of the TExES test administration. This experience is valuable as an analysis sheet will pinpoint any weaknesses and assist you in preparing for the TExES test.

• Elementary (including Special Education) and Middle Level Education Content
  • INST majors are to attend a Representative Form (practice test) session for their content area at the end of Literacy Methods Block.
  • Math (4-8) test candidates need to contact Dr. William Jasper (mth_waj@shsu.edu or 936-294-1575) for specific review and practice information.
  • Suggested testing time line for IDS majors (including Special Education)
• EC-12 (excluding Special Education) and Secondary Education Content
  • SED minors, or other educator combinations, are to seek advisement from their major department for information for Representative Forms or approval to take their content TExES test. This should be done in the semester prior to Methods Block.
  • Suggested testing time line for EC-12 (excluding Special Education), 6-12, and 8-12 certification levels
• All INST Majors and SED Minors are to attend a Representative Form (practice test) session for the EC-12 Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) at the end of Methods Block.

Beginning with the 2011 – 2012 testing year, the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) 4-8 (110), 8-12 (130) and EC-6 (194) tests are no longer being offered.   The PPR EC-12 (160) should be taken in place of these.  The standards are the same across all PPR TExES.
