Chemistry 440 is one of our two senior level instrumental analyses courses. Below see a couple of photographs from one of those labs.

The computer controlled AAS allows the analyst to optimize the instrument, control the flame parameters, take data, and print reports all from a PC.

 

Chemistry 118 is our freshman majors' laboratory and also involves lots of hands-on experimentation!

 Some labs involve colored solutions that are created by chemical reactions. Here are copper amine and copper oxide solutions. The far right is an experiment which determines the molecular weight of a vapor.



 

One of the more famous experiments that freshman perform is called a titration. The equipment used includes a burette and Erlenmeyer flask. Safety goggles are, of course, required also.
