Sharon King

Sharon King is an art historian and archaeologist. She joined the SHSU art faculty in 2000 and teaches both introductory and advanced art history classes. Her research interests include non-western art and archaeology, ethnoarchaeology and material culture, funerary archaeology in the Aegean Bronze Age, ancient and contemporary land use, and prehistoric rock art. She has published academic papers on topics that range from landscape phenomenology, ethnoarchaeology, and Bronze Age funerary behavior. She has worked on archaeological excavations in Belize, Peru, Britain, the Mediterranean, and the United States and is an avid world traveler. She has a BA from the University of Houston and a MA from the University of Sheffield in the UK. Her current research involves the completion of her doctoral studies.
